Uli´s Umzugsreport - Teil 1

Also viel Spaß dabei

So it is done. A small review, into the last weeks.

Saturday 24 July 2009. We could fetch the truck already on Friday evening. Well it was not the best as soon appeared. But the lorry brought all of us (Angela, Uli (cat) Spotty) back to good old England.
5.30 clock, we (Uli, Cher) started our journey to Germany. Of course I hardly slept the night before. Which route should I take is the truck ok etc. Many things cross my mind.
Nevertheless it had to be done. After about 100 miles, the speedometer failed Simple 0 km / h it showed on it. That went so well off perfect I thought (big shit). I calculated that we will get the 14.00 clock ferry. So full throttle was announced, but the crate was limited to 56 miles p/h. (bloody hell)
At about 10:30 clock, we reached the Ring Road (the Orbital M25) in London. From there it's about 2 hours towards Dover. Always with one eye on the watch, we reached Dover by 13.00 clocks. However, with a small handicap!!!TRAFFIC JAM!!! Shortly before we reached Dover. Of course I was really happy about it dammed. Such a shit again. We got stuck, nothing went forward. Then after about 20 minutes it went really slowly. We had no idea of course how it works to go on the boat with a truck.
We had to go on a weight bridge with the truck and then buy a ticket at the counter. 13:45 clock, we arrive at the ticket counter. The young lady said in a calm tone (very British), that's enough time still to get the 14.00 a clock ferry. She had, however, not the necessary change on hand.
Gradually it was really close to the ferry. 13:52 clock we run back to the truck, and off to the right lane and queue. Lucky we thought only one truck ahead of us, super I thought. The truck in front of us was told to go, but the chap who was in charge stops us.
I was already at 180 but what could we do, simply wait and hope. Wait and hope that we could still go on the boat. I think it was 13:58 clock when we finally were told to the dammed ferry. Behind us a few more cars and then they shut the gate to the ferry.
Now we could put out to sea (channel). Additional 2 hours later we arrived in France. The aim now was Brussels. Until later 18:00 clock, I wanted to be there. My Co-pilot Cher did a super job. Unfortunately I failed; the right exit to the hotel came a bit too fast (bloody hell). This had to happen at a Spaghetti junction. Spaghetti junction is an intersection with multiple highways and above you next to you and what god knows else. But then we found the right exit and also the right hotel, after we had asked the police for the hotel. We went a bit lost in the area where the hotel was we had a little procedure. I saw a police patrol just short hand stopped and asked how we will come to our hotel. They escorted us then kindly to the hotel.
Once there I had to determine the truck. One of the steel strapping for the air facility was torn.
Super, finally something exciting happens. In the hope in Germany not to be caught, we went up by 6 a clock at the crack of dawn.
We have not been caught but we were stuck in traffic near Hockenheim.
Counter clock 14:00, we arrived in Backnang. Thank God, the first half would be done. But we had too gone back again, with a fully loaded truck. Or rather, I believe we were overloaded. My nerves were really strained as I saw what I had to load into the lorry.

Simba in Aktion
